Telecommunications company Frontier Communications recently entered a sponsorship deal with Cross-Bay Ferry service to provide free one-way ride tickets across Tampa Bay on select Sundays as gesture to highlight Frontier’s dedication to the Tampa Bay community.
The designated dates for free service under the “Ride Free Day, Powered by Frontier” program are Nov. 20, Dec.18, Jan.15, Feb. 19, March 19 and April 16.
“The ferry is such an exciting project and a great illustration of our community crossing the Bay and coming together,” Melanie Williams, Frontier senior vice president and general manager for Florida, said. “Once we heard about the ferry, we knew Frontier had to be involved.”
Many local restaurants and retailers are upping the incentive with specials for ferry passengers such as hotel discounts, free beer and free spa treatments.
“We are honored and grateful that Frontier is joining in and generously supporting the ferry by offering thousands of free rides,” St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman said.
The ferry offers regular service seven days a week. Frontier further extended its generosity by providing approximately $180,000 worth of television advertising on its local FiOS cable channels.
Additional partners and supporters include the Tampa Bay Times, iHeartMedia, the Tampa Bay Lightning and several civic groups including St. Petersburg Chamber and Tampa Downtown Partnership.
